MORNA BURDON
To date I have had a rich and varied career which has encompassed both theatre and education work.
As a professional theatre practitioner I have directed around 50 productions earning 4 star crits and working
with a range of playwrights including the late John McGrath (founder of 7.84 Theatre Company).
I also headed up a professional Theatre in Education Company which toured schools and other venues throughout Scotland for 10 years. This was part of my work as a member of the creative team producing a wide range of theatre productions and projects at Theatre Workshop, Edinburgh.
In 2007 I was awarded a Scottish Arts Council bursary to study Commedia Dell Arte techniques in modern theatre at Teatre Olmetto in Milan. Whilst there I was guest lecturer at Milan University and Paolo Grassi Drama School. I have lectured in performing arts at various Further Education Colleges in Scotland, was guest lecturer at Queen Margaret University Drama Department and in 2006 was invited to become Associate Tutor at Moray House School of Education, Edinburgh University.
As an actor, I have performed in a range of productions including a year's touring with an international
troupe of performers at a range of venues in England including the Glastonbury Festival.
I was also employed by Dundee College of Education as one of a team of educators working in their Demonstration School, and have directed a range of drama programmes in schools and theatres throughout Scotland. This includes drama residencies in Angus, East Lothian, Edinburgh, and Mull, peripatetic drama work in Fife and Edinburgh and work with the Traverse, Royal Lyceum, Dundee Rep and Perth Rep as well as the Royal Court, London and the Royal Blind School, Edinburgh.
I am currently working on projects with several playwrights, actors and a choreographer as well as teaching drama in several Edinburgh primary schools which I love.
