School History

Niddrie Mill is a non-denominational school situated on the edge of Niddrie/Craigmillar area of Edinburgh which is recognised as an area of multiple social deprivation. As a result of this the school receives additional funding for Positive Action. We are now dual campus with St Francis R.C Primary and share a dining hall and playground. The gym hall can also hold both schools if needed.

The current staff consists of the Head Teacher and a Depute Head Teacher, both without specific class responsibility, a Principal Teacher (with class responsibility), a part-time Business Manager and a further 12 class teachers. Also there are 1 full time and 1 part-time Support for Learning teachers, a Behaviour Support Teacher, a Drama Teacher, an ICT teacher, a PE Teacher and a Guitar Instructor.

Additional Support is given by Learning Assistants, a Nursery Nurse, a school administrator and Service Support Officer.

The District High School is: Castlebrae Telephone - 0131 661 1282.

Extensive Transition opportunities are given throughout your childs career at Niddrie Mill and the transfer to Castlebrae is always very positive for our pupils.

Associated Primary Schools are: Castleview and Newcraighall Primaries.

Our Old school building reached its centenary in 1995, with extensions added to the building in the 1930s. This building will now be converted into flats.
